Music has taken BERN CARROLL around the world as part of the musical duo Bluehouse. As a founding member of the independent band, which formed in Melbourne Australia, she has forged a successful recording and touring career spanning more than 20 years - supporting Tommy Emmanuel on his USA, European and Australian Tours, playing the stages of the Sydney Opera House, Woodford & Port Fairy Folk Festivals, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Philadelphia, California & Ann Arbor, Michigan Folk Festivals, numerous radio & television appearances in Australia and the USA (even singing a tune with the Indigo Girls along the way) plus countless pubs, clubs and venues around the world and continues this with her delightful solo appearances.
Armed with a voice that ranges from teardrop soft to thunderstorm forceful, Bern seamlessly croons a beautiful ballad to make you weep, the next minute belting out a tune to knock you off your feet. Comparisons to Janis Joplin and Doris Day aside, Bern's angelic voice has a sharp & dark edginess that can only be gained from maturity and experience.
Her performances are full of delicacy and authentic emotion - a mixture of folk, pop and soul....& a few good stories
With a combination of original songs and reworked covers - all backed by her rock-steady rhythm guitar work - she is performer with a carefree stage presence and an engaging personality.
